Question: On this particular Adjustable W/D Shank - 8" (Part 17100), is this hollow tube or solid steel? And is the adjustable area 2" wide?

The Curt Adjustable Weight Distribution 8" Shank part #17100 is constructed from solid steel. The holes in the vertical shank are spaced 1 1/4" center-to-center and have a 3/4" diameter, allowing for a maximum rise of 5 1/2" and a maximum drop of 7 1/2"

I need to get a new trailer hitch for my truck. The last time we went camping the hitch broke off and we had to just tie down the trailer really well to make sure it didn't fall off while we were on the road. I think it would be smart to get something that is going to last me a while because we go camping all the time and have to bring the trailer with us.
