How To Enlarge Frame Rail Holes For 24792 Hitch

Written by Hitchweb Team Thursday, November 17, 2016

I just received my hitch #24792  and the installation instructions say no drilling required but it also says enlarge existing hole in both frame rails. How can this be done?

Step 2 on the installation instructions say to enlarge the exisitng hole in both frame rails to allow access for 1.00 X 3.00 spacers to be inserted as shown in figure 2.

You can do this a couple of different ways. You can either take a rotary tool to work out the side or you can take a standard chisel and do it that way as well.

Roof Rack for the 2009 GMC Sierra 2500 Naked Roof?

Written by Hitchweb Team Wednesday, November 16, 2016

Our customers asked us: Do you offer a Rhino Rack roof rack for the 2009 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Crew Cab Long Box Duramax Diesel with a naked roof? Preferably with 60” crossbars.

Rhino Rack does make a system for this truck, But it offers 1,375mm Bars only this is to prevent excessive overhang and the dangers that accompany this, also to keep our systems as strong and quiet as possible, they are pre cut 290mm on each end for leg spacing. The roofline would not accept a longer bar than the 54” or 1,375mm. Please also keep in mind, the “Heavy Duty” bars are not meant for consumer use. These bars do not carry more weight than vortex, they are designed for construction equipment to be mounted to them

We recommend you visit our Rhino Rack Canada page and enter your vehicle application to see all of the available options for your vehicle. If you require assistance choosing your roof rack or need any assistance with Rhino Rack our team members are here to help! Please contact us at

Can I Buy Rhino Rack Vortex Crossbar End Caps?

Written by Hitchweb Team Monday, November 14, 2016

Can I get replacement end caps for my Rhino Rack Vortex crossbars?

Question: I've lost one of the end caps for my Rhino vortex crossbars and need to replace it. Mine uses the universal core lock, are there any upgrades available?

Answer: We do carry two different styles of end caps that can be used on Vortex crossbars.

Secure Core Locking End Caps

The Vortex Secure Core locking end cap is the new standard end cap that comes with the Rhino-Rack Vortex crossbars. The locking mechanism prevents theft of the accessories mounted to your crossbar to give you peace of mind. Each 2 pack will come with 1 universal key and the 4 pack will come with 2 keys.

Curt Slider Option For OEM 5th Wheel Prep Kit

Written by Hitchweb Team Thursday, November 3, 2016

Just bought a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD 6.5ft Bed with the factory prepped for 5th Wheel Assembly. Do you have a slider assembly hitch for this truck? I have the Curt 20K Curt 5th Wheel Hitch, but I want a slider option if available.

October 5, 2016, Curt Manufacturing confirmed that the GM OEM factory prep package roller / slider adapter is currently in the design and testing phase of development. Unfortunately no time line for release is available at this time.

The only suggestion we have at this time is to look in to adding a Reese Sidewinder or pin box extender to your set up to help with any cab clearance issues.  Please contact our team at 1-800-300-4067 for further assistance.
